Peer Pressure of the So-called Friends

As I climb deeply into the ending of my book, i began to realize a turn in the personality of the main character in the book. I notice that she is maturing towards the end of the book and the character has to fight to stay in the line of her morals and values. Im looking forward to see how my character continues to change and I am thinking about making my paper something about realizations and how going against peer pressures of the people around her. One of my favorite passages in this chapter was when the main character had th chance to do something wrong and cheat on her boyfriend. Although she may want to, she fights temptation and decides to stay true.

Education is the Key

In my reading this week i read about how Sister Souljah wasnt able to get serious with a biy because she thought that she was over their head and how she thought about lowering her standards. On page 118 she talks about how she alomost got caught in the cheating lifestyle that her roommate was living and how she was dragged into that kind of lifestlye. She then comes to a realization that she should wait for the right boy and that lowering her standards is not the right choice to make. She believes that she should stay focused in school and the right boy will come her way. Im thinking about the possible paper about the importance of educatoin and how a lot of kids are dropping out of school today.

Trust amongst Youth

While reading No Disrespect I came across a passage that really struck me. the passage talked about how youth are not trusting authority figuers because oif the lifestyle they live. Sister Souljah explains in her book how she was taught not to trust anybody and how not to build realtionships with people, she explains how she believes that the government is designed to make black people fail because of the circumstances of welfare. i was interested in this because i live in these conditins and was able to hear a different perspective. she explains why some youth are so violent because of the treatment they recieve at school. i was really able to relate and i am really enjoying my book so far.

No Direspect

I have just started my 1st American Author book entitled No Direspect and so far i am enjoying it. it was one of Sister Souljah's first books and it talks about her life in her perspectives. some of the things that caught my attention in her writing was her raw ways of writing. she doesnt sugar coat what she has to say and that is something that i admire abot her as an author. she has real life experience and a message that is portraye through hewriting.

Author Proposal

For my American author project I am choosing an all time favorite author, Sister Souljah. She has always been one of my favorite authors and she has wrote many of my favorite books. Her style of writing and the way she relates to youth of today intrigues me. I can relate to Sister Souljah because she has been through a lot in her life and writes books about struggling through these times. Sister Souljah not only defines being an American author but she also is a great contribution to society.
She has set the bar very high for young African American aspiring for young writers all around the world. My author not only meets the standard, she exceeds it. My author is important because she has books that read mostly by youth. She has made many accomplishments and has had many intrigued by her books.
I want to take from this project a better understanding of my author and her motives when writing. I want to do this author for my project because I know it is a challenge and I know that many people may not know about her. She has great literature and I know that reading more of her work will help give me a better understanding of how she is as a person.
Sister Souljah’s work will enable me to write a good paper because her work is very versistyle. She has many styles and ways that she writes to different types of youth. Some people may argue that Sister Souljah may write very bluntly and explicitly, however her writing holds much truth. Her books hold values and morals that are taught when growing and she writes with many matephors. Many people are able to relate to her writing because it isn’t sugar coated and holds nothing back. At this point I plan on reading two of her books which include No Disrespect and The Coldest Winter Ever. From what I had read from Sister Souljah her books have made me enjoy reading. I plan on reading No Disrespect first because this book I haven’t heard of before and I want to read it first. I also noticed that this was one of her earlier books and that this one has an interesting title. I plan on reading her more well known book, The Coldest Winter Ever. A lot of my friends have read this book and really enjoyed it. The only thing that I am worried about is the fact that these book isn’t education and will not be accepted. My author is not only a writer but a political activist for the violence amongst African-american youth.
